As much as we love the warmth of the sun, prolonged exposure causes the majority of the damaging wrinkles and age spots on our faces.

Our board-certified physicians, Dr. Fauzia Carullo  and Dr. Ralph Carullo at Las Vegas Med Spa, can help fight the effects of sun damage by treating it below the surface of the skin. Using Cynosure’s Elite MPX we can diminish the appearance of these persistent imperfections to give you a more youthful and refreshed appearance in a relatively quick procedure that can have you back to your daily routine right after treatment.

Sun damage comes in many forms.  Las Vegas Med Spa laser skin correction technology reduces the appearance of all of these types of sun damage and skin discoloration.

Sun Damage

Sun Damage

Excessive exposure to the sun can negatively affect the skin in many ways. Sun damage causes an uneven increase in the production of melanin, which leads to the irregular coloring or pigmentation of the skin. It can also cause the permanent dilation of small blood vessels, resulting in redness in the face.

Age Spots

Age Spots

Age spots are the result of exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, and range in color from light brown to red or black. As we age, it becomes more difficult for our skin to recover from sun exposure, and age spots are very common for people over 40.

Freckles

Freckles

Freckles can appear at any age. Like age spots, they are triggered by the sun’s ultraviolet radiation, which leads to the increased production of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. Freckles commonly appear on the face, back, shoulders and arms, the areas of the body most often exposed to sunlight.

About Las Vegas Med Spa’s Laser – Cynosure’s Elite MPX™

We have a Top of the Line Laser that is recognized as the most versatile platform today, the Elite MPX™ addresses the treatment of pigmentation, redness, wrinkles, treatment of facial and leg veins, plus new integrated IPL for photofacials.  The Elite MPX™ has a revolutionary technology and sequentially combines gold standard wavelengths in one system.  The 755 nm Alexandrite laser, 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).

IPL: From Light Comes Beauty

Las Vegas Med Spa offers state-of-the-art laser skin rejuvenation treatments. A unique, customized procedure that uses concentrated pulsating beams of light to treat a variety of dermatological issues, skin rejuvenation boasts many benefits, including:

  • Skin rejuvenation treats fine lines and wrinkles, even in delicate areas.
  • Skin rejuvenation stimulates collagen production.
  • Skin rejuvenation evens out skin tone.
  • Skin rejuvenation reverses the effects of sun damage.
  • Skin rejuvenation tightens skin.
  • Skin rejuvenation fades superficial scars.

What’s more, laser skin rejuvenation is an out-patient, non-surgical procedure requiring little to no recovery time.

Photo facials seem to work magic.  There’s a precise science behind it. Photo facials use light therapy to boost collagen production and remove from skin unwanted brown spots, broken blood vessels, and sun damage.   IPL photo facials use intense pulsed light to treat brown spots, broken capillaries, spider veins, uneven pigmentation and facial redness.

Las Vegas Med Spa Produces Results – Brilliantly!

Expect brilliant results with photofacials. The effects of IPL can be  dramatic, immediate, long lasting — and they continue to improve over time.  Of course, results can vary depending on the type of laser used and the cosmetic issue being addressed. Wrinkles caused by aging and long-term sun exposure tend to respond extremely well to laser skin rejuvenation, while wrinkles caused by repeated movement and muscle use can be improved but not entirely eliminated.

Laser skin rejuvenation makes it possible to recapture that lovely radiant, youthful glow. It’s one of the safest, most precise and effective cosmetic procedures currently available.

Why Cynosure’s IPL and Multiplex Photofacials used at Las Vegas Med Spa is preferred over other lasers?

IPL is the gold standard for Photofacial rejuvenation.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) skin treatments using the  photorejuvenation process represent a breakthrough in age-defying
skin care. This new technique treats skin damage non-invasively — there is no disruption of the skin’s epidermal surface.

IPL treatments address the effects of photo-aging and sun damage with  low risk of complications and no recovery time.
IPL is a FDA-cleared,  patented technology provides dramatic results for a variety of  benign conditions, including age spots, sun-induced freckles,  symptoms of rosacea, birthmarks, unsightly veins, acne scarring  and other blemishes — even unwanted hair.

IPL vs. Bleaching Creams

Bleaching creams may temporarily reduce the effects of sun damage and the appearance of age spots, but they are painful to the skin and require constant applications over long periods of time. With IPL,  Las Vegas Med Spa uses multiple hand pieces to provide gentle yet precise treatment for the highly targeted areas where discoloration occurs, with long-lasting results.

IPL vs. Laser Resurfacing

Laser Resurfacing and deep chemical peels often send patients into hiding, as they wait for redness and swelling to subside. Microdermabrasion  addresses skin irregularities, but is not effective against all  complexion problems including redness, flushing and broken capillaries.

What to expect on the day of your treatment.

Things you should know about your schedule on your treatment day.

  • While you wear protective eyewear, Dr. Carullo will treat the designated area with the IPL hand piece.
  • After the treatment is completed, post-laser ointment will be applied and Dr. Carullo will review post-treatment instructions with you.
  • You may experience a feeling of warmth for a few hours after treatment.
  • Results can be seen within three to 10 days after your treatment.
  • The pigment that has been pulled to the surface of the skin will appear like dark or prominent freckling, which will slowly flake off as the skin heals over the next one to two weeks.
  • You can begin wearing makeup as soon as the next day.
  • Check out and schedule your next appointment.

What to expect: Physical and social down time.

Physical down time is typically associated with surgery, where you have to rest after a procedure and you can’t go about your daily life until a period of healing has occurred.   A big advantage of the IPL Photofacial procedure is there is no physical down time.

Social down time refers to the recovery time you need to feel more comfortable with your appearance, although you aren’t physically restricted from doing any of your typical daily tasks. Treatment with Cynosure’s Multplex IPL system pulls the pigment to the surface of the skin, and as a result clients experience “crusting,” which looks like very dark or prominent freckling.   This is a temporary condition, but could raise questions from coworkers – so you may want to consider waiting a couple of days to return to work.
